What it is
Brooks Falls is the picture most people already have of Alaska: a brown bear at the top of a small waterfall, a sockeye in its mouth. The platforms are ranger-managed, access is by floatplane, and July is the famous month. Lake Clark is the quieter alternative if Brooks is booked or weathered out. Build a spare day. Planes sit when the weather sits.
Before you go
Book early. Weather delays are normal. Stay on the platforms and follow the distance rules.
