What it is
Resurrection Bay out of Seward, Prince William Sound out of Whittier, and the Inside Passage ports all put you on the water with whales from roughly May through September. Many trips double as glacier cruises. The useful ones keep you outside long enough to actually see animals, so dress for wind even on a sunny dock.
Before you go
Layers beat a single jacket. Binoculars help. Stay on deck when the naturalist calls a sighting.
