What it is
Summer sled-dog camps sit on glaciers above Seward, Juneau, and Skagway because that is where the snow still is. A helicopter or plane lands you at the kennel. You meet the dogs, ride, and usually get time with puppies. Several of these kennels are run by people who race the Iditarod. It is a short day and a long memory.
Before you go
Sunglasses matter on the ice. Book a weather window. Ask whether you can drive the sled or only ride.
