Ride the Alaska Railroad
A dome car between Anchorage and Seward, or Anchorage and Fairbanks.

What it is
The railroad is the way to see the country between the roads without driving it. The Anchorage–Seward run is the short famous one. Anchorage–Fairbanks is the long day, with Denali in the middle if the weather agrees. GoldStar is the upstairs seat with the glass and the dining. Book it when you know your dates. Summer trains fill.
Before you go
Sit on the side the railroad recommends for that route. The train is the plan for the day, not a transfer you sleep through.
